Ask a question:

Can I Split My Project Into Smaller Campaigns?

Solution

Yes, you can split your list into individual campaigns.

Why would I want to do this?

There are many reasons why you might want to split a link removal project into a number of smaller campaigns. Here are just a few:

  • group different link types together so that you can use different campaign level templates to make a more personalized request to webmasters (e.g. article directories, comment spam, link directories etc could be run as separate campaigns).
  • get part of it up and running while still working on analysis and/or contact gathering for other parts.
  • make your project more manageable by staggering campaign start dates so you do not become overwhelmed by responses that need to be dealt with.
  • Split a very large project to fit within the limits of your plan.

What should I be aware of before I do this?

The main thing to be concerned about  is that you will need to combine all of your campaign summary reports (excel workbook downloadable from https://www.rmoov.com/images/icon_excel.gif icon in the campaign list) into one if you are having to submit a reconsideration request. The workbook for each campaign contains four worksheets.

You will also need to combine the disavow reports from each of your campaigns into a single file (.txt file downloadable from https://www.rmoov.com/images/gdownload.png icon).

Lastly, you will need to make sure when you split your list that all URLs for a specific domain are contained within a single campaign – if you split a domain’s URLs over multiple campaigns then you will end up sending multiple emails to the same webmaster(s). This tends to annoy people and will reduce the chance of getting a good cleanup result.
